We took 2nd place out of 182 startups!

After months of competition, we’ve finally made it to the finals, led by Jason Wang Mingzhe.

Our presentation titled ‘Leveraging PVA’s Environmental and Biodegradable Properties: Driving a Green Revolution Without Microplastics’ was given its shining moment at the Yangtze Delta ‘Join’ Sci-Tech Innovation & Entrepreneurship finals, held at the new Fudan MBA campus in Yangpu district, Shanghai. Representing us was our CTO Jason Wang on Sunday 21 September. The scene was filled with excitement and anxiety: each startup only had 5 minutes to present, with 3 minutes for Q&A.

The 2025 contest season started in June, with multiple science & innovation tracks, 10 million RMB scholarship rewards, innovation training camps and links to over 150 partners and investment institutions. After screening hundreds of applicants, Foyooeco was shortlisted amongst the initial 182 science & innovation projects for the contest. Of these, 99 startups were in the Growth Group and 83 startups were in the Angel Group.

By August, it whittled down to just 40 semi finalists in the Growth Group and 41 semi-finalists in the Angel Group.

By September, only 10 startups (Angel Group) made it to the finals in Shanghai. We’re proud to be one of them.

As the results were announced at 6pm on 21 September, Sunday evening, we were elated to be informed we had won 2nd place!

This was also a true show of our teamwork, with different members of our team representing our company (CEO Daisy Yang at the initiation round, Ops Director Fiona Fu and CMO Xavier Wong at the semi-finals and CTO Jason Wang at the Grand Finals) at every stage of the contest. This is also Foyooeco’s very first accolade, and we’re proud to see our startup recognized by the very best!

Being in the top 3 is very meaningful to us. Even though we didn’t get the championship title this time round, getting second place means we’re very close – and sometimes, no different – from being true industry champions to drive a microplastic-free environment.
